Welcome

The Python Software Community in Namibia shortly (PyNam) is a society that brings all Pythonista's together to share their programming skills in Namibia. We are a community of master programmers, intermediate and even absolute beginners. This is a right place to meet other local Python developers, learners, employers, enthusiasts of all kind.


All skill levels are welcome: if you are interested in Python, we are here for you and you are here for us!

Monthly Meetup: these are a chance to meet other Python developers of all experience levels to get help with a particular problem, share expertise.

The Community

We bring together the Python Community in Namibia and we create a new generation of Python Developers from as young as primary school learners.


The Team

Python Namibia is lead entirely by volunteer members of the Python community. The volunteers also help to organise the Python Namibia Conference.



User Groups

Different Initiatives or user groups have been established to cater for different needs of the community. All groups organise events where different Developers meet to share skills and help beginners.


Why Python?

Python is one of the world's most popular programming languages. Python is suitable for a vast range of different applications, and it allows even new programmers to do useful and meaningful things very quickly. Python released for the first time in 1991 by its creator Guido van Rossum. It derives its name from the comedy Monty Python's Flying Circus of the famous Monty Python , aired on the BBC over the years 70. At present, the development of Python is managed by the organization no-profit Python Software Foundation.

How useful is Python?

Python is used for backend Web Development, Data Analysis, Artificial Intelligence, and Scientific Computing. Many developers use Python to build productivity tools, games as it is easy to use, powerful, versatile, making it a great choice for beginners and experts.
